Christmas Time

Sunday evening was the children's program at church. They put on a play and we had fellowship afterwards. We also had a special visitor show up. Yep, you guess it, Santa Claus. For those who don't know my grandfather plays Santa every year. He has the whole outfit down to the glued on eyebrows. He'll go to kids house and special events for people. He really enjoys doing this and once he has passed on I've been elected to continue the tradition. I guess once I put on the coat it's my responsibility until my time has ended.(ha!) Anyway, I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas this year!!

Sunday School Shootout

Last week we had our monthly get together and this time it was a shootout. We had hot dogs and chili. We cooked our dogs over a fire, the good way. I made about two gallons of chili. The good winter kind. the kind of chili that warms you up inside and cleans out your sinuses. Also everyone who had guns brought them. It looked like we were going to war. Everything from Ar-15's to glocks. We had a blast out there shooting cans, jugs and pumpkins from Halloween. No casualties thankfully because it was a little unorganized but thats ok. Of course I got the itch to buy a new gun, so we will see how that goes. If there is one thing that I love and good at it's shooting. My father taught me how to shoot before I was about ten years old.

Baby Bumble Bee

Ok, A little catching up to do. On Halloween I had to work over so I missed the girls all dressed up. Kerri took a good video of Kendall in her bumble bee costume and

Another Day at the Prison

For those who don't know I work at a women's prison. Since I've been on first shift I work in the Control Room 4 out of 5 days. Saturday morning is visitation time. Now visitors have to be searched and monitored as much as the inmates do. They will try and smuggle in drugs and such into the compound. The big thing now is tobacco. Since we went to a tobacco free facility in January it is a hot item. So, Saturday morning I'm working in the control room with somebody different because my partner called in sick. So I'm showing him the ropes and what not. I get a call from the Visitation officer to keep an eye on a certain inmate and her visitors. So we have them on the camera keeping an eye on them when all of a sudden the guy starts playing with his "jeans" under the table. Now I thought this was the normal routine where they are trying to get physical with each other. But their son is with them so I thought he had another problem. It seemed suspicious so I told my buddy to let me out so I could give the V.G. officer a heads up and just in case something happened I would be there. No sooner than I get to the door to the V.G. he calls me on the intercom box and says he slipped her something and put it under her shirt. So I run in to tell the C/O there and I stand with the visitors and she takes the inmate to be searched. Well here comes the Sargent must be something big. He comes over and tells the man and boy the must leave and he can never come back, ever. The boy is allowed to but someone else must bring him. I escort them off the compound and went back inside. Turns out he slipped her about a half ounce or so of tobacco about 4 inches long. It was wrapped in cellophane and duct tape in the shape of a, well, something that could have been put somewhere to "hide" it. If you get what I'm saying. But me and my buddy stopped it in time. So we got a pat on the back and some extra paperwork to do, Yeah! The inmate was sent to Punitive Segregation or the "hole" as some call it. Nothing in a cell for 30 days and a big ol' wright up on her file. So if you go to prison whether you are visiting or not, just remember, someone is always watching.

The Pumpkin Patch

Saturday after I got home from work we went to Waldon Farms. I've never been before so this is all new to me. They had the usual farm animals. Cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ponies, goats, etc. You get the idea. They had pumpkins from the size of a softball to some that had to be carried out in wagons. Prices were excellent as well. Kerri and the kids had fun but I had just got off work and I can't get into the spirit of things that soon. I liked it though. It was neat. Click on the pictures to make them a little bigger.

Back to Normal

Last Monday Kendall got her cast taken off. (I know I'm a little behind) Her arm has a little bow in it but the Doctor said it would straighten out within a year. So, no running or jumping for a month. Well, we'll see how that goes. First order of business, get dirty. She helped Kerri cook pork chops and some other things. Her favorite part, rolling the chops in the flour. Flour was everywhere but she had fun and that's what matters.

80's Night

Last night we had another Sunday School Class get together. This time it was an 80's theme. Now I know that I was born in 1980 and the style for kids was different than the teenagers, so I had to do the best I could with my clothing. Kerri and Betsi on the other hand looked like they had just stepped out of a time machine. I had my pants tight rolled and the popped collar. I even put one of my earrings back in. ( which was not fun by the way. I haven't had any in since I was a teenager.) It was fun to see everybody dressed up and remembering what we used to look like. My how the times have changed.

Learning to Read

Here lately Kendall enjoys reading books. She likes for us to read to her at least 100 times a day. Normally before nap and bed time we read a book. This afternoon she decided to read one to herself. She has been fighting taking a nap all week so I let her have her book in the bed. While doing the laundry I could hear her reading aloud with her book and after a few minutes it got quiet. I went in to check on her about fifteen minutes after that and this is what I saw...........

Kendall's Cast

Today we saw an Orthopedic doctor for Kendall's arm. He said everything looked good and he didn't want to remove the splint due to the fact that it might move the bones out of line. So they decided to put the cast over the splint. They asked what color she wanted and she chose red. The doctor said she will wear it for about 4 weeks. Let's just hope for the next 4 weeks I don't lose my sanity. The child acts like nothing is wrong. She's running and jumping like everything is cool. She's my little tough girl.

Kendall's First Major Injury

Well, Friday night we had went out to eat and came home to relax for a while. I was in the shower and Kerri was watching TV and dealing with the kids. When all of a sudden I hear the most painful words come from Kerri's mouth " I think Kendall broke her arm! " (she fell off the chair in the living room)So I jumped out of the shower put my clothes on and drove like I was trying to win the Daytona 500. We got to the E.R. and I had already got in the proper mode to deal with E.R. personal. I was not about to wait 6 hours to deal with this poor baby's arm. Luckily they were willing to do their job that day and we were in and out in about 2 1/2 hours. Now I have never suffered a broken bone before (and after this I don't think that I can) and God willing I will never have to but at that moment I would have traded places with her in an instance. She broke her forearm in two places right in the middle. She is in a splint and sling right now and around Tues. or Wed. she will have a full arm cast. I just ask everyone to pray for her and hope for a speedy recovery.

5th Anniversary

Last Friday was Kerri and I's 5th wedding anniversary. We went out on Sat. to eat at this new Japanese restaurant called Tokyo's. The food was good as well as the atmosphere. We then decided to do something afterwards but didn't know what. When you finally have a night out alone all you can really think about is rest. So since it was only 7:30 we opted not to go back home until Kendall was asleep.( I know It sounds awful) So we went to play Putt Putt. Now being the experienced golfer that I am ( yeah whatever) I thought this was going to be easy. Boy was I wrong. Kerri embarrassed me, badly. It was like I was playing with Tiger Woods or something. I stop counting the hole-n-ones. It was ridiculous. Then we decided to ride the go-karts but we got rained out. Which was probably a good thing because I probably would have lost at that to. All in all we had a good time. I look back and it seems a lot longer than 5 years but before I know it, it'll be 5o years. I couldn't ask for a better wife. Someone so loving and understanding. Trust me it takes a lot to deal with me on a daily basis. I can't wait for more enjoyable years with her.

Kendall's First Day of School

Well, Monday was Kendall's first day of school. We thought she would be scared to be in an unfamiliar environment. We were wrong. We stuck around for about 35 minutes and told her we had to go and she said "ok bye, love you!" I really wasn't surprised but Kerri was a little heart broken. Here are some pics of her first day.

Hannah's Taekwondo Test

Well Hannah has entered the world of martial arts. She had her first testing last night for her first belt. She has been in this as an after school program this summer. It reminds me of might first introduction in this world when I was about 7 or 8. My brother stayed with it and received his 1st degree black belt at age 13. My father is an instructor for Smyrna Martial Arts (Tang Soo Do). He attained his 4th degree Black belt last year (Master Status). So this sort of thing is our blood and we're kinda glad Hannah is developing a liking for it. Anyway enough about us, here are some videos of her testing for her Yellow belt.

Weekend Vacation

Well, we went on yearly trip to Louisville this past weekend. My wife's sister and her family live there so we get to visit with them and do some things together. When we arrived we decided to go to the Louisville Slugger Factory and Museum. We took a tour of the factory and hit a few balls in the batting cages.

The next day we took the kids to the zoo. Now I've been to the Louisville Zoo before but I don't remember it being so poorly laid out. We walked around for three hours and didn't even see everything. It was like a maze in there but we had fun and we got to see the baby elephant. Oh, we also rode the big carousel which Kendall has never done.

Camille Asleep

Now later that day I got to do what I wanted to do and that was play golf. My brother-in-law, Will, Matt(two guys from his church), and I played at the Charlie Vettiner course in Louisville. This was a really nice course a lot better than here in Smyrna. Once again Spencer dominated. Will was crushing the ball of the tee. Matt was a real power hitter, teeing off with irons further than me with a driver(another Bob). My game didn't get started till the 18th hole. My tee shot was a little off but my two shots from the fairway onto the green for a two put par was the best hole of the day for me. Other than that I stunk as usual. I will try to upload some videos later.

The girls went to Six Flags while Spencer and I took care of the little ones. I must say we did an excellent job. No one threw a fit, they ate their lunch, and came home and took a nap. Later that night The adults went out to dinner at a wonderful Italian restaurant( I forgot the name). The food was amazing and we had a great time together. Our last little adventure was the slip-n-slide I bought for Easton. This was the best time I had all weekend. the kids and I had a ball. I didn't get any pictures but Jenny has a video of me going down the slide and halfway across the yard. She will more and likely post on blog later.
